Come join us on this private tour in which, at your own pace, you will experience three of the greatest sites in Yucatan: the Mayan ruins of Ek Balam, the city of Valladolid and the cenote Samaal.
Ek Balam is one of the most recently discovered sites in the Mayan world and the latest to be open to the public. One of the special attractions of this archaeological site is that it is still possible to climb the Acrópolis, its main pyramid. This unique pyramid has 6 different levels, roofs and 40 rooms. It is 31 meters tall and 160 meters long. As you explore it you will be able to see paintings and sculptures depicting Mayan deities and local animals. Seeing the jungle from atop this pyramid will be one of the highlights of your vacation.
During your visit you will be accompanied by a certified guide who can teach you about the cultural importance of Ek Balam as you explore the city’s other buildings, like the Ball Court, the Mayan Arch, Las Gemelas (the twins) and the Oval Palace.
After Ek-Balam we will head 25km South to the beautiful colonial city of Valladolid. Here you can appreciate the picturesque city with its colonial architecture, colorful houses and the slow life in the streets that seems to have stopped in time. Valladolid is the second most important city in the state of Yucatan, only second to its capital, Merida.
Valladolid has several buildings of great importance and rich history, like the convent “San Bernardino de la Siena”, the Santa Ana church, the museum San Roque, and the cathedral, in the city’s main plaza.
To end our tour we will visit the spectacular Cenote Samaal, a cenote of great natural beauty located in the Hacienda Selva Maya. Here you will have the opportunity to swim in its refreshing water and submerge yourself in the wonders of nature that surround it. Here you will also enjoy a delicious meal at a buffet with some of the region’s finest cuisine.
